Readers Game: Lifty

Blog reader Andrew Webb has had his game release on the app store called Lifty. This is a game based on the popular Spectrum classic Nifty Lifty from the 80′s.

Just to let you know my iphone game was approved and put in the appstore yesterday and I have to say it has all been down to your brilliant tutorials. I have come from a web based .net background and we help from your tutorials i have devolved and released my first iphone game in about 3 months mostly just using free evening unfortunately have to keep the day job up! I have asked a few questioned along the way, which you have been very helpful in replying ( ie particle emitter problem on the 3GS!)

The original game was a cult classic in the 1980s and retro gamers have been desperate for a new version to play for years. And now the wait is over. For the launch price of just 59p, you can take the addictive classic with you wherever you go.

I love seeing these games come to life again. It also shows that in just three months it is possible to create a game for the iPhone platform. I get more of a kick out of seeing what indie developers are able to do over three months than a large pro outfit.

I hope this continues to show readers that getting your ideas into a game and onto the app store is really achievable and whilst the learning curve can be steep, it’s worth every bit of effort.
