Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not received your license?
If you've not received your license make sure you have checked in your spam folder carefully. It's often the case that the license email gets caught in spam and hides away while you wonder what is going on. If you really can't find the license don't panic, just drop the email address you used during the purchase into our Recover Your License section and all your shiny 71Squared licenses will be sent to you immediately. If that doesn't work drop us an email at support@71squared.com with as much detail as you can about the purchase and we will hunt down the license for you.
  • Lost your license?
If you have lost your license and checked everywhere, including down the back of the sofa, just drop the email address you used during purchase into our "Recover Your License" section below and ALL your 71Squared licenses will be sent back to you immediately.
  • What's the deal with the app store?

Great question and where to begin! We launched our applications before the Mac App store was born and have therefore always sold directly to our customers through our online store. When the Mac App Store was introduced we excitedly checked it out hoping to make it even easier for people to get hold of our apps and this is where the issues started. Long story short, there are two main reasons we are not on the App store just yet

    1. There is no easy way to convert our current customers to App Store customers so we would need to support both. Because our apps use licenses we would need to support a version that doesn't contain that code and one which does else Apple will reject it. Not a massive issue, but for a small company it can be a real resource drain.

    2. We have seen that the approval process for apps is taking a LONG time, sometimes over 60 days for companies. We don't believe this is workable when you need to get out an important patch, so we are watching the situation hoping it will improve over time.

There are other smaller issues which have been documented by others all over the internet, but for now we are monitoring the situation, so it's not a never, just not now.

  • Do I get a boxed copy of the software?
No. At 71Squared we only distribute our software electronically. You are free to download the apps for free to try them out with the restriction that you cannot export your content. As soon as you make a purchase you will be sent a license file which removes that restriction and allows you to carry on using all of the applications features.
  • Is there a demo?
Yep. On each of our product pages you'll see a Free Download button which allows you to download the full application. The only restriction is that you cannot export your projects. Once you apply your license file after purchase this restriction is removed.

@justmyfreak Shouldn't reduce performance if you're not doing unusual things. Zipping and unzipping is not something you'd do all the time.
