More readers games

Readers of the 71Squared blog have been busy :o) I’ve had a number of emails from developers who have recently had their games released on the App store and who have either been able to use code from the tutorials or found them useful.

This is fantastic and I LOVE seeing what people are creating, especially if they have been able to use code from the blog in some way. These games cover a real range of game types and its great to see retro action, Pushover, that Mike Pollard has ported from his original C64 and Amiga versions.

Well done guys, they all look great and both John and I hope that they do really well. I also hope that 71Squared can continue to grow and be a useful resource to developers who want to start developing games on the iPhone platform.

I encourage you to check out these games and give feedback. I always welcome constructive feedback as I’m sure all the developers do. This is what helps make each and every game better than the last increasing the enjoyment of those who play them.

» Smash’em all – Roger Plana (Tenchy)
» Snack Attack – Joey Manso
» Space Cadet Defender – Jason Taylor/Karl Zeibig
» Pushover – Mike Pollard

If anyone else has been able to use the code from this blog, or the tutorials have inspired you/helped you create a game then let me know :o)

Mike

My game, Amazed 3D (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app.....06438?mt=8), makes use of modified versions of some of the tutorials here. For instance, the code for rendering text is somewhat based on your Bitmap Font tutorial, with some optimizations for speed while rendering the HUD. I’ve started to implement sound based on your Sound Manager classes (which are very easy to use!). Keep up the amazing work!

Add me to the list of people helped by your tutorials. The video format with line by line explanations was the quickest way for me to become familiar with the development environment. My game is iHatedThese, a simple three-marble simulation.
