Hi Mitur,

Yes, I think you are right, the majority of IE6 users are corporate networks that can't upgrade, either because of cost or maybe as a "if it aint broke, don't fix it" kind of attitude.

A high percentage of our clients STILL use IE6, so for the time being we have to keep supporting it, although recently we have added a banner to all pages that are viewed on IE6 to remind the user that they are using an out-of-date browser.

Hopefully, now that IE8 is out some of the IE6 users will at least upgrade to IE7 ;)

As for the Windows Search, I can't comment on as I have not used Windows for around 3 years now and am never likely to go back :)

I'm also a developer but one of the lazy kind, a corporate developer, and I think the problem is corporate Windows users (and developers) don't trust anything Microsoft does so we don't update our client machines.

Like the last time Microsoft gave us an OSX like "feature" it replaced the admittedly broken search feature with one that you had to hardcode every file type you wanted it to index. Seriously? Are you kidding me? What genius thought that up? I can see the meeting now, "Well, the problem with the existing search is it doesn't actually search in your files. It just kind of randomly decides which files to look and which not to dependin g on the moon cycles. So to fix that we've made it so you have to know before had what kind of file you are looking for and you have to then go into an obscure portion of the OS to set these magical file types because we were to stupid to just use a phracking *.*"

Ask ANYONE if they like the new windows search feature and you'll get a resounding PHRAK NO! I only know one person that didn't care that it was forcefully installed without her knowledge and that's only because she wiped her entire system to reinstall XP anyway.

Anyway... down with IE6! And Windows "Search"
