If I buy a license now does that mean that when the software is launched on the Mac App Store I would have to pay again or does the license transfer to the App Store version?

Hi retro_boy

If you buy a license directly then that only covers the direct version. The Mac App Store does not provide any facility to allow developers to mark users as current owners and let them download for free, they are all treated as new customers.

We will continue to support Glyph Designer both directly and via the App Store. Updates will obviously arrive sooner for direct purchasers as there is no review process as there is on the app store, but both customers will get exactly the same product.

I hope that helps.

Hi mate

It is so awesome thnx, you should promote it on unity3d.com, alot of people are using Sprite Manager 2 a plugin for the unity3D game engine, SM2 allows Glyph Fonts which in turn saves OpenGL draw calls by batching :-) I have used GD with such to you have just improved my work flow :-), currently only need to rename .fnt to .txt and I am away.

Cheers

Hi nickdep7

I've actually been speaking with Brady who created Sprite Manager and also EZ GUI for Unity 3D. He did some testing for me to make sure Glyph Designer worked well with his plugins, and they did :D

I'm going to be adding a feature to the next version of GD which will allow you to control the charSpacing attribute that was added to the fnt file format for EZ GUI and also let you save using the txt extension, just to save a little more time.

I'll certainly look into getting on the Unity site somehow as well :)

Thanks for the feedback and glad your finding it useful.

Hi there Mike,

Glyph designer looks like just the job for me.
I have 1 question.
I don't use cocos2d but my own opengl renderer - is there some sample code (preferably raw C, not Obj-C) to load a file and render so that I can add it to my project?

Cheers

The link below shows the AngelCode font format being handled in OpenGL using C.

Any ETA for when Glyph Designer is being released on the Mac App Store? I'm really excited to start using this, but I'd like the ease of use that comes with the Mac App Store, so I've just been waiting...

Thanks for any update!

Wow, this looks awesome! I've already purchased it via PayPal ... but when the transaction was complete, I was just redirected back to the main page ... so ... I downloaded, and wow, what a difference compared to Hiero (which was really just a frustrating experience right from the start); this really is an awesome tool - but I don't see how to make my version "registered" :-(

I have already received my PayPal payment confirmation ... but no download link or registration key.

EDIT: Ah, patience is a virtue. It took a few hours but the license then arrived. What is really nice: While you can't export your font-atlases with the unregistered version, you can still save the settings. So, during my "wait-time", I could play with the app and already get some nice fonts ready that I can now easily export. This app is probably the most "Mac" app I've seen in quite some time. Really awesome ... now let's see if particle designer could also be useful for me ;-)
