New Readers Games

I’ve been sent details of some new readers games that I’d like to share. If you have sent me your game and not seen it mentioned yet drop me another note and I’ll add it to the list. With moving machines and a recent crash I’ve lost some emails so can’t be sure I’ve included everyones.

All of the games listed have been built using the 71Squared game engine that is described through our tutorials and the “Learning iOS Game Programming” book.

Panic Castle” by YewGuan Soo. Protect your kingdom at all cost by unleashing trebuchet to stop the waves of enemies marching toward your castle. Manage your treasury between purchasing an upgrade and projectiles to defend your castle.

Snake Wars” by Can Jin. This is a great remake of the classic Snakes game. It has all you would expect from a Snakes games such as the collection pellets that increase the size of the snake but also multi-player support for 2 players with support for 3-4 players coming in the next update.

Neon Void” by Jason Fields. This is a nice take on asteroids making use of geometric shapes as the enemies and a dual stick control mechanism. Controlling your ship can take a while to get used too and thanks soon get pretty hectic when playing.

As always, I encourage you to check out the games mentioned above. These guys have put in a huge amount of effort into creating their games and getting constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated I am sure.

Nice work guys.

Mike

“DomHead” is my first release. It’s a Dominoes game with a twist. Made possible by the the “Learning iOS Game Programming” book.

Aha, I’m making like 3 games at the same time with the help of the tutorials. My upcoming release is “Bubble: Journey to the end of the world” and I post development blogs on my site about it.

Can’t wait to make it a reader’s game!

I also use Particle and Glyph designer, two products which come highly recommended from me. They really reduce the development time, saves having to play around with XML files. If Your next tool apps are as good as these Mike, then I’ll probs get those too. :)

Peace.

Oh and I got Panic Castle.

Good game! I’m a fan of defense/strategy games, and I enjoyed the simplistic design. Very worth the price. :)

Peace.

Space Frontier takes the 71squared code and adds some new features, it resembles a classic space shooter game with a twist

I am 14 years old and I worked really hard for about 2 months to create the game “Knockdown!” on the app store. I learned all the OpenGL in my game from your video tutorials. I also read 71 squared daily. Thanks for the great tutorials and keep up the work. If possible could you put my app on the readers games list? Thanks :)
