BBC iPlayer on the iPad

For those in the UK lucky enough to have an iPad and who have tried to use the BBC iPlayer site, you will have been disappointed to find that it does work. This is something that frustrated me a lot but I’ve not had time to look into it.

Fret no longer. Chris Greening, a regular blog reader, has come up with a great stop gap that will allow you to use the iPlayer on your iPad until the BBC officially support the device. This is sure to happen, but given the iPad will not be in the UK until the end of the month, this solution allows you to get your fix before then.

Details of how to get iPlayer working on the iPad can be found on Chris’s blog page. You will need the SDK for this solution though so that you can compile a small app.

Thanks for the great workaround Chris :o)

Have you tried tvcatchup.com mike? Cooking breakfast on Saturday morning which watching Saturday morning kitchen on the iPad was golden, you need to sign up for it, but it’s free and works great.

I’ve updated the sample code. You can get it from here:

The app is now quite functional.

`you will have been disappointed to find that it does work.`

Do you mean “does NOT work”?
