Sir Lamorak’s Quest – APPROVED
I got notification from Apple on 23rd April that SLQ has been approved. This is great and brings its official release ever closer. I’ll be making it available for sale real soon and look forward to everyone having a play.

Mike,
Congrats on your book! I can’t wait to take a look at it when it comes out, these tutorials have by and far been the best help on the net for me. But as I’ve always done web development and procedural programming, I’m having a very difficult time wrapping my head around this objective C stuff :P I am learning though! I have run into a snag however. I have been working on my game “Mr. Turtle” for months now (and only a little at a time) I started working on it again today after watching more of your tutorials last night, wanting to add the sound manager to my game. I just noticed however that my game crashes on startup at every simulator and device OS version… There are no errors or warnings by Xcode.
Would you mind giving my code a once over and seeing if you can figure out whats wrong? Maybe its provisioning profiles, maybe something in the code, maybe something in the plist… I have no idea at this point. There isn’t much to my code so hopefully its something simple. Anyone else who wants to take a look and thinks they can help, please do. Thanks!

Hey Mike,
Have you ever considered supporting PVRTC textures in your Image class?
I have been trying to do this but seems I am not even half good as you. :D

Congrats!

@Vertical
I think that the problem is that your view outlet is not connected.
All I had to do was open mrTurtleA2ViewController.xib and control drag from file’s owner to view and select view to get it to work.
Hope this helps.

@Vertical – a piece of friendly advice.
“You’re dead” not “Your dead”

Thanks tons, i messed with it for 3 hours the other day and narrowed it down to the xib file I thought, but I still wasn’t sure what to fix, I’ll try that out as soon as I get home, I hope that fixes it, if so a HUGE thanks to you :)
You’re… I’ll be sure to fix that haha, thanks, sometimes you overlook very simple things ;)

@Anonymous, yes, I have played with PVRTC textures and I’ve got a version of the image class laying around somewhere with the necessary changes included. I’ll see if I can dig it out.
What I have found though is that in my projects I’ve not really seen that much of an improvement in performance, but that is just in my projects. Overall I think there are good improvements to be had depending on the project your working on.

Thank you thank you thank you DavidD. For some reason my Interface Builder was bugging out and wasn’t letting me even do that. But alas, I whipped its tail and finally got them to connect. All works great now. I really appreciate the help man, thanks a ton! :)
