Particle Designer Video

I’ve done a small video of the particle designer to give you a taste of how it should look.

wow, that looks really good.

I could probably spend hours just playing around trying out different effects.

Mike,

The designer is very cool and I can’t wait to start using it. I spend WAY too much time playing with particles as it is. I am not sure if this will increase or decrease the time I spend, but it will be fun no matter what ;-)

Thanks!

On second thought, maybe you should not release this app. Particle emitters are like crack – just do a little and you can get hooked for life. I am already trying to source out a local support group to wean myself off. This app could cause me to relapse!

@Scott If you find that support group, please let me know the address!

Could it be possible to join two effect types?

Do you have an example?

looks fantastic mike! that tool will save all of us a lot of time. thanks for sharing all your hard work, and I’m sure your book will take off like a rocket.

Thanks threevee.

@Trisect, if you mean the ability to mix particle emitters together then this first version of the tool doesn’t do that, BUT, that is something I’m planning on adding in the future.

I’ve got a bunch of ideas for the particle emitter that I’d like to add. I don’t want to say too much now as it will spoil the surprise ;o) but I think they will be things people would like to use.

The particle emitter in the tutorials and in the book is pretty much stand alone and I plan to build out a new standalone version that has many more features all configured through the Particle Designer. This should allow you to plug the particle engine into your own game engine as and when you need too :o)
