What are people wishing for?

So, the rumours are flying at the moment about what is going to be revealed at Apples event this month. Is it going to be the Apple Tablet, SDK 4.0, both or some kind of human transporter tech?

OK, transporter tech may be pushing it a little, but in the Apple universe there is certainly a buzz. I for one am really hoping that the Tablet lives up the hype that is being generated. There are already a bunch of companies coming out with their tablets trying to beat Apple to the punch. I have to say though, all the ones I have seen look terrible.

If some of the rumours are right and the iPhone was actually Apple trying out the touch technology they wanted to put into the Tablet then they will have been working on this for some time. We know that Apple has most likely had a few attempts at a tablet and dropped them as Mr Jobs was not happy. Given that this time the reports say he is VERY happy should mean that this is going to be one seriously cool device.

I do believe that the tablet could see Apple creating another whole new market, just as they did with the iPhone and with the success of the App store and the number of developers working on the iPhone, I think the future for this new device is already looking good.

I am the kind of person who always gets the bleeding edge technology and I’ve been burnt because of it. That said, if I’m having fun developing games for iPhone, then I’m sure as hell going to have even more fun developing on a device with a much larger screen.

I’m also hoping that the 4.0 SDK is full of new toys for devs to play with. UIKit would surely have to be extended with new controls that can be used to drive the tablet in new and clever ways and maybe as I’ve read on other blogs, Interface Builder may have been updated to enable devs to more easily make use of these new controls on the tablet.
I just can’t wait to see what Apple have been working. I’m going to be in San Francisco the week of the event so I’m going to be watching twitter and every other source I can to see what they are saying.

How about you guys? What do you think is coming and what excites you most about the possibilities?

Mike

I hope that if they do release a tablet that iPhone developers automatically get to develop on the device and there isn’t another programme to subscribe to. I also hope that they make it easy to create one app that can run on the iPhone and the tablet.

Interesting times no matter what :)

I am really looking forward to seeing apple’s latest creation, especially knowing that if Mr Jobs is happy, I’m happy. This is all great news!

However, I am going to have to remake all the graphics of my other apps to fit the specifications of this new device.

I just hope they add the ability to manage my photos directly on the iPhone itself.
Id like to be able to create albums and move my photos around.
Ive bug this a couple of times a Apple and every time they tell me that their engineers are looking into it.
