The sound of music with Vincent Webb
I’ve been hunting around for a while for the sounds and music I can use for Sir Lamorak’s Quest. As I’m working to a tight budget i.e. nothing, I had dropped the thought of ever getting music created for SLQ specifically. That has changed.
While taking my daily walk through the forums on iDevGames I ran across a post by a young musician called Vince Webb. Vince is based in London, UK and is studying at Kings College in London. His post showcased some of his work and his recent competition win on the Tribe Of Noise website. Vince was asking people with games on the go if they would like him to provide music for free with payment being credit in the game for the music used.
This to me seemed too good to be true and I immediately emailed Vince to explain the book and SLQ and to see if he would be interested in working on some music for me. Vince can straight back saying that he would and by the end of the weekend I have a FANTASTIC menu track from Vince.
I have to say that the speed and quality of his work is outstanding and having great music with the game has changed it considerably in a very positive way.
Vince is studying and doing this work in his spare time and I’m sure it won’t be long before he is swamped with people asking for his help. I hope he is as I think he is a real tallent in the making. I’m also hoping that he will be able to start to get payment for his music once he has built up his portfolio as even though he makes it look easy, this stuff is hard to do well.
I was really keen to share this info with you and to also just remind everyone that hunting through the game dev forums is a great way to find some real treasures, such as Vince. So I’d like to thanks Vince for all his help and I’ll be posting a video of SLQ soon for people to see how its coming along, including the music :o)

That’s awesome. Hopefully I’ll get a game in the works in time to make use of Vince’s generous offer. Mike you seem to be finding diamonds in the ruff at every turn. Well Done!
