Thanks Milton Keynes Apple Store
I just wanted to say thanks to the guys at the Milton Keynes Apple Store. My 24″ LED display decided it was going to play up and developed a big black smudge. Really annoying when your working on it all day, and most of the night ;o)
I booked a genius appointment for the same day, Wednesday 9th and it was taken in for repair. I was told that it would be the start of next week before it was ready, but got a phone call on Friday afternoon to say it was done.
The screen is now back with me looking rather splendid, minus the black mark.
As always, the guys in the shop were great and handled my issues quickly and with no fuss. Just one of the reasons why I like Apple.
I could ask questions about why a 10 month old display went faulty in the first place, but I’m too much of a fan boy to do that ;o)

I agree. I’ve not had a bad experience yet.
Thanks for the encouragement as well…no pressure :o)
I’m starting Chapter 5 this weekend. I’ve spent a couple of weeks coding to make sure the code I’m about to write about is working well. A few tweaks, but all in all its going really well. Getting full 60fps with almost zero CPU usage registering on my iPod touch 2nd gen, so I’m happy the code is performing well. Thats will tilemap, particle systems and sprites on screen just to give you an idea of what I’m doing.
OS 3.0 on the iPhone 3G was giving me all sorts of problems, but it looks like OS 3.1 has fixed a number of bugs in 3.0 as its running really well on that device now. I would say that 3.1 is much more game friendly than 3.0.
Also managed to get save and resume working this weekend which was a task I was not looking forward too. Turns out that with the magic of NSCoding, NSKeyedArchiver and NSKeyedUnarchiver the job was way easier than I was expecting.
So with some more coding done its back to writing :o)

Apple stores seem to have great service no matter where they are located.
Glad to hear that you’re back on track! A lot of people are waiting for that book. No pressure, Mike! :D
